Hello everybody,
Got 71 % but I am happy I got through. Most of the questions in the exam were tougher and different from what I found in common mock exams(Marcus,JQ+). Around 8 to 10 questions were straight forward, but for the rest I really had to wrack my brain. Attention had to be paid to every
word that was there or were missing. More than 70 % of the questions were code based. In threads I got a question on join(), otherwise all questions were from the objective list. I am a commerce graduate, plus OCP(Developer) plus four months work experience in oracle. Self-studied
java and simultaneously prepared for certification, averaging about 4 hours a day from 20th January.
I have been a silent javarancher but now is the time to give something back by way of tips :
while preparing, anytime you have a doubt, try your best to clear it by writing code snippets. try different variations till the concept sinks in. if nothing else works make a post in javaranch.
the books I used were RHE and Mughal. If you can swallow Mughal then you will be assured of a great percentage. RHE is to the point so don't leave out anything.
do as many good mock exams you can find but don't depend on them solely. Get your fundamentals strong by writing code.
and don't take forever to make up your mind about when to take the exam. You will find that once you schedule your exam it becomes easier to concentrate !
One small request to my fellow Indians - can you please give me some information about the universities here which offer MCA by correspondence ?
