Hi:
I took the SCJP2 yesterday and got 94%. The exam was relatively easy, if you have studied the RHE quite thoroughly I am sure everyone can get over 80%.
I will just list down a few things that I remember now:
- The questions that were slightly tough were related to Threads and I/O. Though RHE is good enough for the Threads but I guess the I/O material in it is not sufficient. I wish I had looked at the constructors of the I/O classes from some other book....
- There were quite a few questions on Strings/StringBuffers and how they would be modified when passed as arguments to functions.
- The questions on Overloading, Overiding, Runtime Type and Object Orientations were very straight-forward.
- There was only one question on garbage-collection.
- There were 4 questions on the AWT; all but one very quite simple
- There were 3 questions of the inner-classes. They were simple enough if you had studied inner-classes from somewhere else than RHE as RHE is not sufficient for this topic.
- The questions on Collections were quite therotical in content; and I believe there were about 3 of them.
I studied the RHE quite thoroughly, and just did the exercises from the Khalid Mughal's(KM) book; and if I saw that I did not do well in the KM's exercises, I read those sections from KM. This approach worked fine for me; because personally I believe KM's book has to much extraneous matter as far as SCJP2 is concerned. Reading the whole KM would definitely give u a higher level of confidence but I guess is not required.
But I have to say that the test center was really lousy...I would not name it(it is somewhere in downtown Chicago)..
Hope the above helps...
Fazal

Hi Albert:
I used the Khalid Mughal's Java certification book to study the inner-classes. Though I did not use it for I/O, I saw after the exam it has more detailed and excellent coverage of it. I would advise that u use it instead of RHE.
Hope the above helps..
Fazal
For Deepak:
RHE -> Complete JAVA 2 Certification Study Guide
(simon Roberts, phillip Heller, michael Ernest)
KM -> Khalid Mughal's book on JAVA Certification
