Hi Ranchers,
Today morning I have cleared SCJP with 96% (57/59). Thanks to all of u. I am actually silent listener. All ur post regarding various problem as well as Exam related traps (and how to avoid them) are really very helpful. I would also like to thanks Val, Rob (for his well explained long posts), Maha Anna and Shivaji.
Valentin post always has quotes from JLS, which I think, is ultimate reference for java. Though I have still not read it completely but now I am in a mood to finish it properly. Actually each line of it need proper attention as well needs a dedicated program for that very line. It is not mandatory to read this to clear paper but it will make ur java life smooth.
For examination purpose I would suggest KM as well as RHE but KM is definitely better that RHE. Some time u needs a good explanation and it delivers that. But I think it is weak in Thread area but very strong in Inner class, Initializer, Gc, Util, operators and Oop’s .
Now JQ+, it is also very helpful, question similar to it appears in exam but with some unexpected changes. I got nearly 7-8 questions, which look alike as JQ+ questions but have certain changes, so look for that changes. Also it has many or I should say all the question of KM also and of which some are modified and made more clear.
In last few days I have also used trial version of Jwhiz and I find that it is more challenging than JQ+, so try this out in last week.
If any one needs any other suggestion regarding exam then do let me know.
Thanks again for all ur help

Thanks Val, Rashid, Sonir, Tarik…..
Tarik I averaged 83% in JQ+ and on Jwhiz 80%. But on last paper of JQ+ I was able to score 90%.
Thanks once again.

Thanks John, M farhan, Mark
mahesh
The abbreviations are
KM:-
Books by Khalid Mughal and Rolf W. Rasmussen “A programmer’s Guide to java Certification”
URL :- www.awl.com\cseng
RHE :- stands for Roberts, Heller, Ernest books “The Complete Java2 certification Guide”. I don’t know the url for this book.
JLS stands for JAVA LANGUAGE SPECIFICATION written by Bill Joy and available on sun site.
What I can suggest is first go through and common books (like ‘Thinking in Java” by Bruce Eckel) of java so that u will be able to know language well and then pick any of the first 2 above written book. It’s better if u can buy both if not then go for KM. And also for the certification purpose stick with Sun’s Objective.
If u want to know anything more than do write me.

Thank you Anup.
I have gone through Thinking in Java, Complete Reference and through RHE once. I find KH very boring since it is too description and confusing. anyways I am going through RHE one more time but still i am not feeling confident for some reason did u feel the same way, I feel that once i start solving the test I would feel that i would get an idea where i am actually. What do u suggest once i go through RHE i am getting 2/3 wrong for every chapter in RHE also can u suggest me a way to do threads...
Help really appreciated.
Mahesh

mahesh,
once you read few messages at this great place you will get used to words like RHE, KM, JWhiz. These are great resources for exam.
You can get JWhiz from http://www.whizlabs.com
All the best for your exam and pickign up jargon
