Well, I passed SCJP on 7th jan (90%),discovered this topic today
I was a complete java innocent a month back ...
it took me about 40 days (with c++/VB background) to clear SCJP.
I started with Khalid 's book, read it cover to cover, scribbled on every page of that book, and then started mocks.
JQPlus helped a lot, although i bought it just 3days earlier to exam, I took all exams one by one making notes along.
my highest in the JQPlus was 80%
just need some help..sun certmanager is still not regestring me ... do they take time to update results???

some how i dont agree with you , I really like that book, in fact in love with it ..... if you are a real beginner to programming then leave that book alone go for Java Complete Reference ... but if you know C++ then you'll really enjoy Khalid's book while your reading it for the second time.
hope that helps

well, collections it the easiest thing in SCJP, i always thought collection to be in my pocket , you just have to keep the hierarchy in mind which class implements which interface and is it ordered /un ordered ...etc just draw the hierarchy for a couple of time.
hope that helps
Rafay.

back again,
I have tried to collect some important points on SCJP, specially for people with C++ background , I have just put the code and explained the wrong assumption that C++ programmer might have about the code.
Sip Some Java
don't think its replacement for Khalid's text , its just for revision .
Rafay.
