Hi All,

I cleared the SCJP 1.4 exam on Saturday 5th June with 95%. Many people from java ranch helped me to get this score. Thanks a lot. My exam preparations were as follows

Well the test was a little bit difficult for me. Had a few hard questions but otherwise it was easy. Currently Im working in a telecom company. I wanted to work in java so I decided to take java certification. To learn the basics I used Electronic book: Thinking in Java, 3rd Edition By Bruce Eckel. Once I completed the relevant parts I used K&B's book. This was a very good book. Very specific to the exam.

I started preparing for the exam from March. If you are working in java then you dont need this much time. For the last one and a half months I have been doing mock exams and practicing lot of tests.

For the exam I finished the first round in about 40 mts and marked the tougher ones. There were around 20 tough questions with big big codes. Mostly from Threads and Garbage collection. I took the next 40 minutes in answering these marked questions. After that I went through all the questions two or three times before ending the test. Time is never a problem. Two hour is more than enough for the test. We will get the print out of the results then itself. The certificate is supposed to come through mail in two weeks time.

One week before the exam i took Marcus Greens mock exam, The mock exams that come with the CD of K&B's book and a few mock exams downloaded from the net. I was consistently getting 80 - 90% for all the test. that gave me confidence to take the test.

Regards,
Sanyev
