Hi Ranchers,

I took the exam today and I couldn't believe when I got the 100% score. I found the exam a little easier than I was expecting it to be - the vast majority of questions were straight: either you know the answer or you don't.
As for my preparation, I used only HF-EJB (read it twice) and the EJB2.0 specification (read it once, but went back for particular details). I took the HF-EJB final mock exam yesterday and got 62/70 right.
I could say that HF-EJB alone is enough to pass the exam with a good score but I got some questions (around 6) that were not covered by the book - at least not in enough detail. For those, the spec reading proved to be valuable as I could remember every detail needed from the spec.
I would like to thank Kathy and Bert for their amazing book and the Javaranch community for being so friendly. Best wishes to all going for SCBCD.

Stefan

Hi Ko Ko,

The next one will be SCWCD1.4... not planning to take SCEA for now. Maybe when Sun updates it to the current J2EE specs I can think about it.

I was also thinking about SCJD because it seems to be a challenging certification and I think I would have fun doing it, but I heard Sun is going to release a new version of SCJD so I thought it would be better to wait for it and do the SCWCD and SCDJWS in the meantime.

Regards,
Stefan

Me too... I'm waiting for the SCJD and SCEA to be updated... Meanwhile, I guess I might go for the SCDJWS...

Hi there,

Can you let us know if there were any surprises in the exam. I mean, some questions you didn't expect / know that the topic would be covered in the exam ?

Also, any tips for scoring high ? Who can be better than you to answer this ...

Regards,

Raj

Hi Raj,

There were no surprises at all in the exam. I was just a little worried about the drag and drop questions because I remember of a guy who lost points because his drag and drop questions were not working properly. But it was just fine, everything worked as expected. The only point worth mentioning is that if you try to review a drag and drop question, your previous answer will be deleted and you will need to re-do all the question again... but I already knew that prior to the exam.
As for the tips you asked... I think that HFEJB is enough for a good score. But reading the spec was the crucial factor for the 100% score. I didnt read it all as there are chapters you dont need for the exam (like Entity Bean Component Contract for BMP), but I read all other sections and paid extra attention to the sections indicated in the HFEJB mock answers.

That's it. Will be waiting for your good results.

Regards,
Stefan

Thanks for your reply. I am sure this will help me as close to a good score as possible.

I will enjoy reading HF ...
Will go through the specs as well.

Raj

Hi Stefan,

This is urgent , (sorry if this seems rude).
My exam is in two days time. Am getting a bit nervous now.

Can you help me with telling what areas the 6 questions you mentioned in your original post are from. i.e. the 6 questions you said which were not covered in HFEJB.

I am reading MZaikins notes and don't think would be able to go through the spec. I will try to look at sections mentioned in HFEJB Mock exams. Will this cover everything.

A reply would be really appreciated. I will be checking often in the next two days.

Thanks a lot,

Raj
