Hello,
I cleared the SCWCD 310-081 exam with a respectable score. Thanks to all
java ranchers, I have seen wonderful discussions and that helped me quite a bit.
As for my preparation: Prepared for 10 days (about 3 or 4 hrs per day).
Preparation: Studied HFSJ, SCWCD Exam Study Kit by Hanumant Deshmukh etal (for 310-080) and brushed Miklai's notes.
Did mock exams on Java Ranch site as also JDiscuss.
Personally, I used to read the HFSJ and then go over SCWCD Exam Study Kit. I felt SCWCD Exam Study Kit explained the design
pattern part much better.
Previous Experience: I have worked with
Servlets and
JSP couple of years ago, so a I was able to apply what I had done in real world. EL and JSTL were new to me as also developing custom tags.
The Real Exam: As for the actual exam, it is not difficult if one grasps the basic concepts and can apply them.
I will have to agree with lots of others that there were quite some questions that were totally wrong or ambiguous. May I ask the authors of HFSJ, who are the co-developers of the real exam to do some thing about this (I do know you can add comments to the exam, but if those comments submitted by previous exam takers were taken seriously by SUN, we would not be seeing the errors happening again and again. Think the core set of questions need to be checked and corrected).
Good luck to all.
Thanks
Siva
