Hi Ranchers!
I visited this site for first time three weeks ago and was worth it! I come from a very different field(bussines administrator), I was "Controller" and then "Businnes Planner" for a multinational Co. but my heart was not there, the part that always enjoyed was programmimg the computer (I did some programming using VB6, Progress and Cognos) so I decide to do what I really love to. I did not know anything about Java in February 2005.
Preparation:
I started studying c++ (jan 2005) using a book from Ivor Horton named begginin C++, it starts from the beggining so I did not have any problem, after that I bough an online course "Joe Grip" and surprise! the syntaxis was the same that was very incomplete but a great tool to see the big picture, in March I started with another book from Ivor Horton named "Begginig Java 2", it is an excellent source and I will keep it as a reference book. three weeks ago I ordered the Kathy and Bert certification book, I worked seriusly two weeks with the book and also with the answers provided by the ranchers in this website, definetly help me to improve my score! 85%! Thank you all!
what is next:
first have a couple of beers after that I do not know yet, I have a lot of experience in administration and I would like to know about JSP and internet aplication servers so maybe SCWCD or SCBCD, after that something else like Oracle, since this is not my field I have to study hard to have a decent job but the first step was done
Thanks again!
