I passed the SCJP exam and I want to share my experience with others who are preparing for the exam.
I have been programming in C++ for a long time and am new to JAVA.
My OO Conecpts were clear so I directly started with the K & B book.
The book is awesome.
But seeing the type of questions in the real exam I would suggest additional reading of books covering JAVA Threads
I read
JAVA Thread Programming - Paul Hyde

Also I would suggest thorough reading of Generics and Collections.

I studied for a month and had to cope up with my work pressure.

Anyways Good Luck with all the people who is sitting for the exam
Be Prepared
