Cleared the SCJP5 with 94%. Thanks all the forum helped a lot. I only used KnB book and a few mock tests from here and there to prepare for the test.

Thanks once again to all, for helping me out to clear the test, and thanks Bert for doing a great job both as a Writer and as a moderator. And thanks to Javaranch.com, which made it seem I had a personal 24x7 Java tutor whenever I had a question

Wow ! Congrats Amit...
Can you please tell me how was the real exam like--was it tough--easy..
similar to K&B mocks?
Looking forward toward your reply.
Congratulations once again..!!
Lovleen.

Hi Loveleen,
As far as my guess, It was certainly easier than KnB mock. One primary reason would be that you would know how many answers to mark in each question so you can use some kinda process of elimination to improve your score. Also, some of the harder/confusing topics like generics and Boxing in the test did not test for the intricacies of the rules. KnB certainly has tougher questions on those topics.

Major trap question/toughies were from the good old regular topics like flow control, Inheritance etc.. So watch out for those.

Obviously I was little better prepared while giving the SCJP than the mock hence my opinion about easier qs in SCJP can be a bit off the mark

Congrats Amit!

I'm going to take my exam at the end of April, that's 2 weeks of all mock questions and review.

I've been going through the K&B book quite carefully everyday for about 4 months and I'm still freaking out. Its nice to know that the self-test questions in the book ARE indeed harder questions.

Good luck to you in your Java career!

Richard.

congratulations!!!.

I also cleared SCJP 5.0 with 72%. But i used whizlabs SCJP Simulator extensively. It's the best. very tough questions are there in simulator which makes it easy in real exam. they are now giving it for only 500 odd rupees for india.

I am going to write SCWCD exam in 2 months.
