Cautionary tale!!!
====================
Firstly a confession! I wasnt feeling too confident about the 486 exam (last one to go before getting ICED certified), cos although I feel like I know the topic, I've heard of a few people being surprised by the exam and am not sure quite how the questions are going to pan out and how complex the infamous exhibits are going to be... So.. I decided to try out one of the many "Study-aid" vendors out there and get some questions to practice on.. Woo'ed by the promise of detailed descriptions and explanations of each questions nuances, I though this would be a useful way of reassuring me that I did indeed have what it takes to pass the exam.
So... I forked out my US$50 and 24 hours later got emailed a PDF file.
Far from a complete discussion of sample question what I got was 55 questions and the answers - no discussion, no reasoning, just correct answers (and I'm not convincesd that all the answers are right either!)...
I was of course disappointed, whilst great for the parrot learners among us this was not going to help my mission to increase my understanding at all!
Further analysis of the material revealed that in fact of the 55 questions provided, 12 of them referred to exhibits .. which were not provided! thus meaning that I couldnt even study around the answers to work out WHY wrong answers were wrong!
Already annoyed - I looked further at the questions and discovered thet in fact 25 of the questions supplied seemed to have nothing to do with UML and OO design... they were in fact from the WRONG EXAM and were for some kinda DB2 certification!!!
So it seems I have paid US$50 for an explanation free sample of 18 questions (of which according to them I would have got 17 correct) that may or may not be actual exam questions...
Needless to say my attempts to contact the 24/7 support desk that accompany the product have gone so far unanswered!!!
STAY AWAY FROM
www.cheat-test.com Its a total waste of money - I'll try and have a bit more faith in my own tried and tested study methods (reading the books and learning the stuff) in future!
