Congratulations Steve

How would you rate the exam compare to the sample test(just in case you took it from prometric for $10) in terms of the level of difficulty?

Hi Steve

Congratulations!!! Well done!!! [beerchug]

I am also preparing for this test and I have some questions regarding it.

I dont have any kind of practical experience with WebSphere. Also I am studying the same books, which you mentioned. When I took the pre-assesment test, my impression was that the questions were more related to WebSphere concepts. They did not ask about scenarios like for example what happens on IBMs 287 and 484. What is your opinion about the real exam?

Can we expect any questions on JVM stack trace and related thread monitoring concepts for this exam? I'm going thru troubleshooting topic in the redbook and came across it.

Thanks.

Hey buddies,
sorry to reply so late.
Here are my answers to all your queries..one by one

to Jayadev Pulaparty
I did not appeared for Practice Sample test.
to Americo Souza
Well in real exam they ask concepts and also some real scenarios.
but dont stress much on real scenarios. But yes u need to have some working experience. If you dont have still u can get the experience by working urself and following the pdf's.
to Billy Tsai
I got the soft copy of this certificate today.
to Jayadev Pulaparty (again)
dont do a deep study on Java Stack trace.
Just an overview familarity with the tools is enough.

Thx all,
Steve

Hi

I am preparing for this exam as well. You have to study at least two books: Administration and Security. The third one about advanced features is more useful for 341 only.

Check at IBM certification site and you will find links to download the required boooks.

Hello Americo Souza,
Thanks for the information.
At the IBM website I found websphere application server v5.0.x resources, but do u think books on administration and security will cover the entire syllabus?
Please, could u send me all the required downloadable books titles....or else could u please verify if following are the IBM publications that I should follow:--
<bold>
1) IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.02 Getting Started
IBM order number: SC31-6323-02

2)IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment V5.02 Getting Started
IBM order number: SC31-6371

3) IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 System Management and Configuration: WebSphere Handbook Series:

4) IBM Order Number: SG24-6195

5) IBM WebSphere V5.0 Security: WebSphere Handbook Series
IBM Order Number: SG24-6573

6) IBM WebSphere V5.0 Performance, Scalability and High Availability
IBM Order Number: SG24-6198
</bold>

Are these publications enough for the preparation?
Is there any other essential book that I should follow or buy?

Thanks & Regards
Rads

Hi

You can download all the required books at IBM redbooks site

You have to read:
- IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 System Management and Configuration
- IBM WebSphere V5.0 Security

According some threads that I found at JavaRanch, the book "IBM WebSphere V5.0 Performance, Scalability and High Availability" is not necessary at all. It more related with 341. You can clear the test using specific documents that you can find at IBM InfoCenter instead.

Hi,

For preparing 340 and 341, join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IBM340Exam/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IBM341Exam/ group respectively.

You will find lots of info and material.

Good Luck.

Bye,
Viki.
