You might read Howard's book Developing J2EE application using WSAD.

Hi,

I passed 287 last month, and used
the following material:

SCWCD Exam Study Kit: Hanumant Deshmukh
Head First EJB: Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates
WebSphere Certification Study Guide: Howard Kushner

I read the first two books from cover to cover,
more than once. From the 3rd book I only read
from chapter 8, since the first chapters are a
repetition of what you get in the other two books.

A site that you have to check is IBM's developerWorks.
You'll find articles that clearly describe how to
do things in WSAD.

Cheers,

Gian

No, they are not the same book.
http://www.manning.com/deshmukh

This book is for SCWCD 1.3 (which has been retired).

The 2nd edition is out as well.
http://www.manning.com/deshmukh2
But it is for SCWCD 1.4, which might not be suitable for IBM 484.

You need the Hanumant book for SCWCD 1.3.

Hi,

The resources you have are good.

I revised the SCWCD and EJB thoroughly. For the
latter I even did some small mock exams (JDiscuss),
because I had never used in practice EJB technology,
and wanted to make sure to grasp the concepts.

For the WebSphere part I read Kushner's book, but
only from chapter 8 onwards. What I thought was
essential in this part is going over the tutorials
you can find on the IBM developerWorks, especially
of Barcia and Wosniek.

I also used Whizlabs in the last week. With Whizlabs
I finetuned by alternating a mock on one day, revising
the weak points the next day, etc.

Thanks Gian for your reply.

Can you please post links of "IBM developerWorks, especially of Barcia and Wosniek."

How did you find Whizlabs , Was it good for preparation ?

Did you ahve 100 % percent correct answers of ICED exam ??

Any other resource I could use.

I need to score above 80% to get reimbursed by my company. Yeah I know they suck.

Once again thanks

Hi,

Here are some of the articles I found on developerWorks.
Don't look at the WSAD version the sometimes mention, it's
the concepts you need to grasp

J2EE Application Profiling in WebSphere Studio

Developing and Testing a Complete "Hello World" J2EE Application with WebSphere Studio Application Developer

Creating and Testing a Message-Driven Bean using WebSphere Studio Application Developer

Developing and Testing CMPs with the Table and Data Source Creator in WebSphere Studio Application Developer Version 5.1

J2EE Application Profiling in WebSphere Studio

Whizlabs was very helpful for 287, I used it in the
final stage of my preparation, by alternating a test
one day and reviewing objectives with a poor score the
next day.

Good luck,

Gian
