Passed Part 1

I thank everyone for all your help and some outstanding posting that has really helped to prepare for SCEA certification.

My score is 89%. I received 88 % on EJB, Concepts 66%, Common Architecture 88% and everything else was 100%. I will start towards part 2 from first week of September(just wanna give myself a break for a while).

Please feel free to ask any question except the actual exam question :-)

Congratulations for great score and great efforts.
1) Share reading materials and preparation time you had taken for part 1.
2) EJB 1.1 is compulsory to read or EJB 1.2 is ok ??
3) Any tips as per real exam ??

How long it took for you to prepare?What mock exams do you think are close to real exam and which one did you use?What information on the web/notes did particularly help you? Did you encounter any lengthy questions?

Hello guys,

1. I used Ramu Meda's notes as a reference. It can be found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/scea_j2ee/files/. I also used mark cade book and other articles from scea_link on javaranch.

2. I think approximately 4 to 6 long questions was given in the test.

3. Whizlab's mock exam resembled very closely with the exam. Actually, I felt like couple questions were same as Whizlab. I would highly recommend to buy either Whizlab or Arc2Pattern ( most of the questions are same on both mock exams). Whizlab has more quesitons and with explanation. On the other hand, Arc2Patterns does not give explanation, but has a summary notes for each topic. You can buy either and won't hurt you at all.

4. Exam time was more than sufficient for me. I had 25 minutes to review the questions again.

5. I initially started to study for SCEA more than 6 months ago, but I was on and off for a long time. I would say two months with 8 to 10 hrs/week would be good enough.

As far as I know, the question was from EJB 1.1. I think the objective for SCEA in terms on EJB is version 1.1.

Congrats!. Wow you had 25 mins extra. What was ur strategy. Also, did the exam require you to memorize any EJB classes/interfaces syntax?

Also, were the wordings on the questions tricky? sometimes the same thing can mean two different things and can be argued either way...I have noticed that problem in whizlabs mock exams...

I think the mock exams from Whizlabs and Arc2Patterns really helped me to get prepared for the exams and to use time effectively. First of all, there were only few questions that were long and exam tells the number of answers to be selected, so that really helped to manage time effectively. The only place where I took some time was for long questions( you know just to re-read to make sure that I understood the question) and as far as I know, I think there was one ambigious question but I don't know if I got that right. The bottom line is, do the mock exams and you will do just fine.

The exams does test you on ejb classes/interfaces and their API as well.
