Hi!
How are customers charged for bookings, when it is the travel agent executing prepare itinerary? I mean, how would it look like in reality?
I see three possibilities:
  • everything happens exactly the same way, pay for itinerary is executed on the client's request by the agent and his card is charged by the transmaster. Not very secure, is it?
  • the itinerary is saved and users may pay for it using user/web interface, as if they have executed prepare itinerary themselves. Not very practical, since the what's the gain of talking with the travel agent? Morover, it implies that user's itineraries have to be really persistent.
  • It happans completely outside the system, like paying phisically with the credit card at some point. It's also a bit strange, because the itineraries would have to be stored for longer time periods and could expire as the seats shouldn't be booked at this time.

  • How do you see it?

Please, don't tell me: it's up to you, you have to choose a solution and stick to it. It's less about assingment, more about real life and your opinion as users, not architects.

Well, when confronted by something like this, I personally also go by what I've experienced in real life when I've placed airline orders through the phone (for example) and go from that. (My rationale being that the companies would, obviously, have looked over the matter themselves and done the risk analysis and cost-benefit analysis previously, so why break with tradition? )
