To all
Why don't we have a separate forum for Websphere/weblogic certification like xml certification? If not just for websphere, than we can have a combined for all app servers. I am sure its gonna be a great resource for people like us. Otherwise it looks very difficult finding the relevant threds.
What do others have to say on this?
thanks
gori

Do you not think it is better to keep discussion about using the product separate from discussion of exams. If not, why does the ranch have the other Professional Certification forums?
I have also created a
thread asking for a JCert forum. I guess that one forum would satisfy both requirements.
Also it appears to me that the OO, Patterns, UML and Refactoring forum has really become the Exam 486 study forum. Wouldn't it be better for this discussion to take place in a new dedicated JCert forum?

The way it works is that we create forums as we see demand for that forum increase by usage. UBB becomes more difficult to use as the number of forums increase. Perhaps a general certification forum would serve the purpose.

A general certification forum may work, and if the existing XML forum is included then you don't have to increase the forum count.
On the other hand is it fair to have 5 Sun certification forums (including 1 for results) and only one for everything else.
Would it be sacrilege to suggest that some of the other forums could be amalgamated? Sockets and Internet Protocols along with Distributed Java for example.
Please don't take offence at this. I think the Saloon is brilliant the way it is, and I am sure that the bartenders and sheriffs have behind the scenes discussions about this all the time. I am simply trying to suggest ways to make the Saloon even better.
Regards
Graeme

Maybe we should have a forum for product certifications.

The idea of forum like "Product Certifications" or one new Forum for "JCert" looks good. Both the approaches will combine the efforts and at the same time will give a seperate and focussed thread.

Hi Graeme, Sherifs and Bartenders!
You are quite right about the 5 Sun certifications, nothings wrong with that,
but we miss the other vendors from jCert-initiative.
It should be rather simple to create a structure for all the "vendorspecefic jCert Study groups"
including level1-2-3.
Anyway - things will always change - and javaranch.com has to face it TOO - unless it
looks forward to be "Static content"

If a sheriff wants to set up "Product Certifications" and "Other Certifications", I won't complain.
It's clear that that is a need and these two forums will give people an opportunity to at least get started. If we see that there is a lot of traffic covering something specific, we can create a new forum for that specific thing and move a bunch of the threads over.

And PRESTO! I added them. Enjoy.
Of course - if these forums end up empty-ish, I'll delete them ...
