Can i take up SCWCD exam?

Hi friends,

I completed SCJP few weeks back and passed with a score of 88%. What shall i do next? I have plans of doing IBM XML cert and SCWCD. Which one is better?

I do not know anything in Servlets/JSP. How long will it take to study these topics? How difficult is SCWCD when compared to SCJP?

FYI: I do not have any working experience in Java. I want to take my career in Java (in future).

I would recommend going for the SCWCD over the IBM XML cert. I find that only a shallow understanding of XML is necessary for most real world applications and that the xml cert won't add that much to your resume if you are applying for Java jobs. I learned a lot while studying for SCWCD though and I think that learning more about servlets and jsps will add value for you. Depending on your knowledge of the web, SCWCD could take anywhere between 2-6 months in my estimation. Good luck! By the way, I highly recommend Head First Servlets and JSP to get you SCWCD 1.4 certified.
