Hi,

What would happen if we specify non-existing or invalid property name in <jsp:setProperty > or <jsp:getProperty> for an existing bean instance.

I have observed that tomcat throws a page full of errors regarding property in the specified bean class. But it also translates the jsp code till that point to its corresponding servlet source code.

Is this a translation or compilation error ?

I think its a translation error. Please comment.

Regards,
Lalit

It's a Compilation error. During translation container looks for only jsp syntax errors. Since there is no jsp syntax error and its only a semantic error it gets poped-up during compilation.
