Try it out and let everyone know what you think by replying to this thread.

Unfortunately our wiki (Friki) does not allow links to display text other than the url. On the positive side, this is easier than dirt to update.

I have not yet added the Recommended Reading portion because, well, why go through all the work if everyone thinks the new version sucks?

If this flies, we'll move the FAQ page over to friki too.

Cheers!

Good work Marc.

Here are my suggestions

You can also add links to JSTL Spec 1.1 and JSTL Tag documentation
which you can find it in my signature.

I had seen folks requesting them.

In Tutorial section you can also add whizlabs and IBM tutorial.
Here are the links to them.

Whizlabs Tutorial for SCWCD
http://www.whizlabs.com/tutorial/scwcd/index.html

IBM Tutorial for SCWCD
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/edu/j-dw-java-scwcd-i.htm

continue your good work.

Thanks y'all.

I added the JSTL spec and the Whizlabs tutorial. The IBM link didn't work for me but I found the tutorial on the IBM site (it was the same but without the /java directory). The IBM tutorial was, as far as I could tell, exactly the same as the Whizlabs one so I chose to keep Whizlabs because it doesn't require registrations and logins.

Keep the flattery, er... I mean suggestions rollin'!

As far as I'm concerned, I was not flattering, just asking if you could not remove those ugly urls that make the tables so big
Sorry to be the only one who thinks it does not look good. A matter of taste I think.

hi,

Actually both !
It's not difficult to produce pages without showing urls (we're not in the 70's anymore ) Have you ever been to the real Wikipedia site ? It looks good.

But as Marc said, this is a limitation in Friki.
You cannot set the label for an external link.
So I think I'll throw my comment to the Friki Wishlist instead

I'm actually looking into what it would take to add the link stuff to Friki. But right now I've also a broken mock exam to worry about.

I agree it ain't the prettiest, but I think it's about as pretty as it's gonna get considering our current limitations.

Hi Marc,

I've googled around and found this :
Nice links in Friki

I've tried it. This will allow you to display nice links without showing the lengthy url.

Awesome, Satou. Thanks for that link. I looked at the friki source this morning and, after seeing its structure, figured it shouldn't take much more than a single line addition and a restart. If only my Google skills were as good as yours I wouldn't have to have gone through the trouble.

I'll see what I can do and let you know how it turns out.

By the way, the mock exam is back up and running - thanks to Ernest Friedman-Hill.
