The below coding is not cmpiling properly:

I ahve both the servlet-api.jar and jar-api.jar in the classpath.

D:\jdk1.5.0_01\lib\servlet.jar;D:\jdk1.5.0_01\lib\jsp-api.jar;.;

i believe this should be set in your class path -

D:\apache-tomcat-5.5.15\common\lib\servlet-api.jar
D:\apache-tomcat-5.5.15\common\lib\jsp-api.jar

i wonder hos did you compile your servlets prior to this

I am having the servlet-api.jar and jsp-api.jar in bot the places JDK\lib\ and tomcat\common\lib and classpath is set to both..

Still I am getting the same problem

Solved!!!

No problem with the classpath!!

I have imported the following things only:
import javax.servlet.http.*;
import javax.servlet.jsp.*;

But After included the below, it's compiling
import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.*;
