Hello All,
I mean I have just got my project. My project like all of yours is a client-server project. I work in the web application area and want to do my Sun Certified Java Developer Certification. I am just overwhelmed by the project. I don't know where to start. Also this something which bothering me is they want us to make the justification we made. So in other words I have to come up with two solution and choose the best and justify my choice. Right???
I think the best place to start is on the database side. Meaning include all the searching and locking and unlocking stuff. Am I on the right path???

Hi Amish,
try looking over my book: it was designed exactly for people in the position you're in. It starts from the ground up and explains RMI, Threading, and SWING. It also has a sample project that grows with the project.

Max,
Is your book "The Sun Certified Java Developer Exam with J2SE 1.4" out yet? Is there sample chapter that we can look at before buying?

Also check out the SCJD FAQ post, you will find some helpful links there. And also Micheal Ernest's book, which we refer to as RHE is a great book to read too.

Hi Joe,
Yes, the book is out. And yes, you can read a sample chapter from the apress site, www.apress.com: The chapter in question addresses some new jdk 1.4 features pretty deeply(Channels, regex, etc), but doesn't really dig into the meat and bones. For that, you'll need to read chapters 4,5, and 6 by purchasing the book <g>.
Also, I'm very willing to help out on this forum.
Best regards,

Max,
About the sample project comes with the book, how close does it related to the real project? Does it shares some similarities with the real project?

The point of the project is to address the same concepts the SCJD does. Thus, you have requirements you must work from, an RMI layer to build, a GUI, a locking mechanism, Threading issues, etc. There are enough differences to discourage potentially unscrupulous activities, but our sample project could very well have been an alternative project to Fly By Night.
