I have two machines: one running windows 98 on which i am successuflly able to run my server with url "ABC", port "2222"
When i use another machine( XP ) which is connected via LAN to the first one, and i try connecting remotely to the server, i get the following error:

IF i run both client and server on the same machine, it seems to be fine.
Please help,
GS

Do the policy files on both machines allow connectivity to/from any address to that port? Perhaps you could post the policy files - they are just plain text so you can copy them easily.
I am assuming that you have confirmed that the IP address reported by the XP client is the correct address for the 98 server.
I am also assuming you dont have a firewall running on either machine (there are some firewalls that block outgoing connections to ports it doesnt recognise).
Regards, Andrew

Hey Andrew, Your reply got me thinking that maybe i am not finding the reigstry.
Instead of Naming.lookup(String), i tried using Naming( host, String ) specifying where to look for the registry and finally got it working after 20 hrs of hitting my head. Otherwise, it was just looking for registry on the client box and was failing.
Thx for your help
