SCJD old registration

Hi,

I bought a SCJD voucher two years ago but never got around to doing the assignment.. Can I still use this now, if I want to do the certification?

I really need this info on whether I should use the old voucher and assignment or buy a new one and sit the latest certification..

Hi James,

You can solve this questions calling to Sun. Normally vouchers have a expiration date, but in the case of developer voucher i didn't know because i haven't this in my hands, but if there is not expiration date you ask for an assigment and you are assigned to a new exam assigment(I think is better take new assigment exam ).

I contacted Sun about this and have no response, perhaps they dont care what happens after you pay them..

Anyways, I remember reading that although the assignment has no time limit the essay exam does (I think about 12 months), which means the voucher is useless and you have to buy new one. I lost my voucher so can't confirm this.. Hopefully get a response from sun soon!

How can I have my exam voucher extended past the expiration date?

When exam vouchers are purchased you have up to one year from the date of purchase to use it. Each voucher is valid for one exam and may only be used at an Authorized Prometric Testing Center in the country for which it was purchased. Exam expiration dates cannot be extended. You must register and take your exam prior to the expiration date of your voucher. Neither Prometric, Authorized Prometric Testing Centers, nor Sun Microsystems are responsible for vouchers that are not redeemed by the expiration date.

For the Sun Certified Developer (SCJD) Assignment (CX-310-252A) and the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA) Assignment (CX-310-300A), there is no time limit for completion or upload of the assignment to the Certification Database.



Iam still confused though, does this mean that you can submit an assignment from an old voucher and sit the exam using a new one?

James, I am in the same situation as you. Sun Switzerland only sells the SCJD cert in a bundle (Assignment and Exam vouchers together). So if you take too long on the assignment the exam voucher expires, and mine has. So I guess we will just have to pay up for a new exam voucher when the time comes to have the assignment graded.
