Like many had done before, here are some post-test info:
* 4 filling blank questions
* Question are clear worded. ( I still found two question/answers are not quite clear)
* Cover all the objectives. Heavy on language concept, light on API.(But there are at least 3 API related questions as I can recall)
* IO stream/Reader/Writer constructors!
* AWTEvent class methods
* Sun sample questions! They really show up !
I have been woking on this test for 6 months, on and off. Like most people, I used RHE+Cram as my primary materials. (Plus Core Java, JLS and of course JDK1.3 API) I went through RHE twice and Cram once before I took on mock exams. After the test I think I'd tried to do too many mock exams. Some of them may do more harm than good. Generally speaking I found Marcus Green (3 mock exams), Applied Reasoning Applet, John Hunter's Mock, javaprepare.com and Java 2 Cram Sample Test are helpful.
I didn't do well in some of these mock exam, most of my scores are around 80%. I found taking good mock exams is a good way to locate those missing pieces in your book reading. Creating my own notes is quite helpful. I may put my edited notes on line later. After mock exams, I feel it's time to go back to books again. I spent the past week reviewing RHE and Cram once again and found many concepts I missed in mock exmas are actually in those books. This time it's very easy to pick them up.
Many may find the example test provided in RHE CD is too easy or just a repeat of exercises questions. In the last time review of RHE, I did not do those exercise and leave them to the example test. Interestingly, I took the "easy" RHE one day before my real test and scored exactly 93%. I also found its style and difficulty is the closest one to the real test.
