Does anyone have any empirical evidence on the performance impact of instrumenting an application with JMX? We are looking into doing so with our application, but I have not been able to find any information on potential performance impact. I would suspect the impact would be nominal since BEA and JBoss have used JMX extensively to manage their apps, but I'd rather have some hard numbers to relay back to our customers (and management). Thanks
Why would you expect a considerable performance impact?

I don't necessarily "expect" a performance impact, I am just trying to determine any potential performance impacts. Our system is a very high transaction volume system and anything that has the potential to affect the performance of the application or network utilization must be scrutinized. Protocols like SNMP, for example, can saturate the network with traffic. I am just trying to find any kind of empirical evidence to point one way or another. I don't want to assume that there are no peformance pitfalls just because I haven't been able to find anything in the literature to either support or refute any potential performance issues.
Forget this weirdo. You guys wanna see something really neat? I just have to take off my shoe .... (hint: it's a tiny ad)
