The content that I am sending from the server to the browser, the MIME_TYPE of that content should be supported by just my browser or my web server should also support it ?

Just the browser. The MIME type has to do with the interpretation of the data; all the server generally does is shovel bytes to the client without attempting to interpret them.

I believe it is quite symmetric question: the browser just accepts what is being sent without any obligations to anybody. Like the server sends...
