Hi All,
here i want to develop a chat application with messenger.it is like yahoomessenger/gtalk kind of thing.
so,can any one tell me how to proceed for that?

You should start with the Java Tutorial chapter on Sockets. Once you get the basics of communication, you can build on that.

Once you are done with your initial learning of sockets,
build some knowledge base on Messaging systems and look at the Java Messaging Service specifications.
