i need to access some images that are stored on a different server than the web application. The images are not in a database. but rather on a linux box. We have a samba share available(we don't want to expose the share to all the users) to the web application server machine and I would like to be able to have the web application server be able to access the share to serve the images. I don't have any idea of how to do this. I could also, use direct access to the linux box(it's secure) but how do I access a remote server, log in, then get the image all from the web applicatin server?

We're using a JSF application developing in RAD 6.0.

Greater minds than mine do this stuff all the time don't they???

The Samba share, properly set up, should just look like a location in the filesystem on the server; you'd just use the proper path in your web application, and things would just work.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
