JSF navigation problem

I have run into a problem with jsf and the faces config file. Basically what I am trying to do is when a command link is clicked, I want a PDF report to open. A link is used to open the report but it doesn't refer to a .jsp. So its not jsp/menu.jsp. Instead it looks more like this menu/guide?q=blah&p=something . So I guess my question is, can faces-config deal with servlets and query strings like this? I am guessing not since I always get an error.

However that probably isnt the best way to do it. I was also thinking that I can navigate to a .jsp page and deal with getting the pdf open there. However I want to have the pdf open without having to do anything extra (ie. using link or commandbutton). Is there a jsf option that allows me to redirect automatically? I have a method that builds the url and redirects it, but I don't know what to stuff it in to have the action run automatically.

Any info would help, hopefully I explained my situation clearly enough. Thanks

I am not sure if I got the second part of your question, but in the following piece of code

from the "success" outcome the the request terminates and HTTP re-direct is sent to the client. The redirect response tells the client which URL to use for the next page.

So I left, I came home, and I ate some pie. And then I read this tiny ad:
