That depends on what your web application is supposed to do. Can you elaborate on your requirements?

Hi Ulf,

What I want to know is how can JSF be used, I am currently working on Weblogic Portal.

Is JSF similar to Portals or something else?

JSF is a technology for building web applications in general. As such it can also be used for web portals. There's lots of documentation and tutorials available on the JSF home page.

JSF is a com[ponent based web framework that allows you to easily and quickly (once you've learned it) develop web applications. It integrates well with some IDEs which can make it more of a point and click type of development environment.

Basically, you can do anhything with JSF that you can do with JSP and servlets, although JSF is probably a lot easier and will allow you to write better (more supportable etc) code.
