JAX-RPC is applicable for writing a Web Service endpoint or a Web Service client in Java. You can use SAAJ for writing SOAP applications in Java, and use JAX-RPC for writing Web Services applications in Java. SOAP is the protocol that Web Services use to communicate. A Web Service has a corresponding WSDL file: an XML document that contains all the information a client needs to know to take advantage of the Web Service.
