I've just started looking at implementing some web services.

I'm using JBoss, and started with JBossWS; but as I read more, it looks like there are other options (Axis, Spring WS).

Can anyone point me to some references that would help me filter through the choices?

Also, does the decision to use SOAP vs REST come into play as I look at these?

Thanks!

Absolutely! If your proposed service is suited to REST style, and there is no overriding requirement to use SOAP, many many developers have concluded that REST is the way to go.

In the last couple of years I have written introductory articles on the REST vs SOAP question, the support for REST in various tools, etc. etc. - see the article list at my sig web site.
