Hi,
Can someone explain me what are the benefits of being certified (rise of wages? required by the companies? personal achievement?) ? I know what it is but I am still unaware about it benefits.
I have seen in many signatures "Java developer certified" so it must be somewhat important.
Here in France, I never felt this is an important requirement. Nobody asked me to be certified and when I ask the question, people stare at me saying "A Java certification? What is it for?".

Hi, Wilfried:
In my personal opinion, the process of preparing for the certification is really a good time of improving my own Java knowledge. From this aspect, it is worthwhile of taking the test.
I think the certificate will also be able help us seeking better job, if not guaranteed.

Certifications can show several things about you. That you are motivated, you have initiative, you can learn and complete objectives. Its all up to you on how you sell it.
It never hurts to have any certification, it can only help never hinder

In my case, it was required by the company.
