Well, I am not questioning the authority of the mods or their decision, I wouldn�t be too worried if that thread remains closed, or deleted. It was a political thread, and if my memory serves me right, after a brief period of total ban of politics in MD, we all were back at it, expressing our ideas, shock, disgust (reactions in general) to everyday events in here, including Iraq war � and if I may add, most of the discussions have been relatively calm and well mannered. (India Elections 2004 thread, with its 250+ good posts supports proves my point).

Well, I am sure Jason is a great contributor to Javaranch in some other way, because there must be some reason why he is a mod!

My closing of this thread was not inconsistent with other similar threads that had been closed. My wording in the closing however was very poor and only led to confusion about my intentions. Specifically, one user in particular was deliberately trying to turn up the heat. My public message to the poster, which that user would understand, instead was not taken the way in which I meant it by others viewing the thread. That was my error. I have since spoken with that particular poster though and everything is good.
If you wish to further discuss this topic, I would direct your attention to this thread. Of course, next time, you could also try sending a PM to the moderator in question and they may be able to answer your question more to your satisfaction.

And about sending a PM to the mod in question (in case, you), I didn't feel comfortable doing that because I believe in past you have warned me for something that I posed, which was completely acceptable by all JR rules that I respect. (I am talking about a post in MD about someone giving out about some his bad experience with some company which has recently outsourced some of their work to �***** Indian people�. I replied to that, about the �ignorance� in that statement, by �ignorance� I mean the �racial/social intolerance�, and you told me off for that. Where as other modes normally express their disagreement thru an IM and lets me modify my post appropriately, for eg, Max suggested me to change the punch line of the first post of �Noah�s arc� thread, which I was more than happy to follow!)
However, I respect you for your knowledge, hard work you put in here at JR, and for the fact that you are well liked and respected by others in JR whom I have great lot of respect to. Thanks again for all your help at JR, and if its okay with you, we will call it a day here in this thread.
