I just found this site today. I am taking the Java2 programming certification exam on Monday. Wish i found you guys earlier. Anyhow I have a weekend of final review planned. I read Learn Java 2 in 21 Days, The Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide. I got my introduction to Java programming last semester using the text Java How to Program by Deitel and Deitel. And from that i decided i want to get my certification. To prepare i also registered at Sun's Learning Center for the Practice Certification exam (236 questions). I scored 70% on the first run through and 83% on the second run through. Has anyone else used that site to prepare and are the questions on the real exam similar to the ones on the practice exam site or are they more difficult?
This looks like a great site!! am glad i found it!
Paul

236 questions ... 83%...
sounds good
my personal view you should try different mocks and just not rely on one particular mock exam ..... just try

Well, I'd say that you are ready...
Just to be sure try my mock at http://www.valoxo.ch/jr/mocks/mock01a.html
If you pass it, then you are really ready because the questions are very hard. If you fail, well, the questions were very hard then
Read the disclaimer before
Don't forget to take some rest before going to the exam, it is very important...

Paul,
If you scored those marks on the Sun Practice exam, you are totally fine (personal opinion only)
I also purchased the Sun Exam and it was very similar to the real exam, very similar.
I found that (sorry everyone else) many of the other mock exams with the exception of Marcus's are more confusing.
I wrote the Sun practice exam twice scoring 90 both times , and scored 88 on the real exam.
Understand the fundamentals of the language , THAT is what i found to be on the exam.
Good Luck
P.S. This is a great site.

Thanks Duncan,
I needed to hear that. I scored 91 on my third run through of the practice exam. I'm a bit nervous about the real one since i have actually no real time practice actually programming in java except for a few exercises in Deitels book How to program in Java (wrote a Knight's tour game based on one of the exercises in chapter 7).
I'm 50 years old and programming is a planned second career for me. I chose java as the language to learn. I do have 2 years of expereince in programming where i currently work... a market research firm..which uses a language called Quancept, a procedural language that sets up telephone interviews to be displayed on a computer screen. I was promoted and in-house trained for the position having no prior progamming experience. But with the economy turn down i haven't had any programming projects since last july (not enough billable hours to go around)
I still work for the company but they created a monster because i fell in love with programming. So im not gonna sit around and wait for them to give me programming work. I'm retooling and learning other programming languages....like java...then will see what jobs are out there!!
Well one last review...then call it quits and let the chips fal where they may.
