Hi everyone,
I bought the day before yesterday a voucher from SUN for SCJP 1.4 and then tried to register with Prometric. Unfortunately, Prometric didn't have 310-035 in their exam list at that time

so I called back SUN and a very nice lady there helped me out with this issue. She told me I was the first to register for SCJP 1.4 and she asked Prometric to add SCJP 1.4 on the list. Today I got back a positive answer from her telling me that everything is set now but one can register only starting from August 19 (i.e. the first date for the exam is 19 August). Hence I registered on line with Prometric without problems.

Hi Gacu,
Congratulations!
I am preparing for the exam now, but I cannot decide which one should I take, 310-025 or 310-035. will 310-025 be discontinued recently? At present, Most online notes and mock exams are for 025, I'd appreciate if you could give me some suggestions of how to prepare for 035.

Hi. Yan Bai. I started to prepare for SCJP2 1.2 in Feb.2002 and passed the 1.4 Beta in May. The material covered in 1.4 is the same as 1.2 except the following: 1.4 took out AWT and I/O but added Assertion. As far as difficulty, it's almost the same from what I saw in the 1.4 beta test.

Thx Yan Bai. I have also started to prepare initially for SCJP 1.2 and I just missed the free voucher for Beta 1.4. Then I decided to wait for the newest 310-035 to be administered. Although, it might look that one is a newbie to Java if he has only the 1.4 certification

I think is better to have the latest one anyway. 310-025 will not be discontinued at least for a while. With AWT and IO out, the 1.4 seems easier but I bet SUN is testing now the fundamentals in more depth

Thanks Wei Du and Gacu, so I guess I'd better wait and take the new exam. I'll go further and deeper with the preparation then.
