i am trying to take SCJP certification in java
approx 3 months Java ex , 6 years C++ ex
finished core java + programmer certification (khalid) and programmer certification (simon) books
Am trying to estimate the time that one usually takes to study for SCJP - is say (3 hours for 1 month = 90 hours of concentrated study enough)
or am I wide off the mark.
Do people prepare for six months for this (I am talking of seasoned programmers in other languages)
Thanks

Well, in your case 3 hours per day for one month *might* be enough. But I suggest you to take as many mock exams as possible. The rule of thumb is that when you score over 80% on most of them, you are ready. Six months is, in my opinion, way too much, if you have some experience with Java an are an OO programmer.

Hi,
Im my opinion if you have finish Khalid Mughal then you are almost ready to take exam.Try to attempt the Sample exam at the last of KM book. And as Szekrenyes has said if u got around 80% then feel comfortable to take exam. However 6 months is too much try to attempt in 1-2 months period.
Good Luck.
Bye,
Viki.
