Certifcation Study

Hi Java Gurus,
I am also planning to take SCJP 1.4 exam. I was confused about which exam to give 1.2 or 1.4, but after going through the various sections of java ranch, i have made up my mind to give java 1.4 exam.
I have also gone through the aims and objectives of 1.4 exam. but i just wanna ask experienced java professionals like you, that which is the book that i should follow and as i am working also so can u please tell me where should i start.. i mean should i start from book or should i start giving mocks... as i do have basic knowledge about java.. and what should be the steps for preperation for this exam and i would like to prepare myself well so that i can get a good score...

Well I think that you should first study for the certification. The book I suggest is Kath Sierra and Bert Bates Book. Give th emock exams only when you think that you are ready to give the exam. Don't give into the temptation to give mock exams earlier.

But can u please tell me about the title of this book.i have already got a book by khalid mughal and i have started reading it. And i wil also buy a book by Kath and Bert.. can u please lemme know the title.. and how much time it iwll take approx to cover all the topics... and after reading thse books shouldi go in for the mocks...
