The JavaRanch's Certification FAQ states:

The SCJP certificate does not show the score. It merely says that you "have fulfilled all requirements as a SCJP for the Java TM 2 Platform". However, a nice percentage always looks good on a resume.

What's "a nice percentage"? above 90? 95?
Also, is it appropriate to put a cert. exam on the resume?
If so, in what format?
(ex.: Certifications: Sun Certified Java Programmer (xx%)?)

what's a nice percentage for you?
IMO, a nice percentage is 80%+, but that is *my* point of view. Other people might say that a nice percentage is 90+.
I normally put my certification in my resume, but not the score. I let them know if they ask me. You are certified, no matter what your score is.

certification goes in your resume/CV of course!
It's a completed education, you did put your degree in there or no?
Score I'd keep out, unless maybe it was perfect.

Oh yes, I meant is it appropriate to put the exame SCORE on the resume
At first I thought "who cares!" but after reading FAQ, I wasn't sure any more.
I'm not certified yet anyway

The score only makes a difference if you fail.
The value of a SCJP certificate for employers is questionable anyway. In the few cases where it was a deciding factor, I've never heard of anyone who cared other than that person passed.
Probably because the SCJP is not a test of skill, but knowledge. It shows you understand the Java language and syntax, it doesn't mean you're a good programmer.

Always look on the bright side of life. At least this ad is really tiny:
