I am working on ASP.NET and developed websites in ASP and ASP.NET and html. I developed more than 8 sites and intranet site.

My problem is I am not getting paid well,I join in this company 2-1/2 years ago, even though they like me but I am getting paid $12.00 hour. So I overwhlemed with this because I am not talkitive and I want to come out of this company now as I think to shift to JAVA. I had a 2 years experience in Java before and I recently took 6 moths cource and learned Java and JSP and Servlets. But not so good at it.

What you guys suggest to me, either continue with ASP and ASP.NET or Start a Career with JAVA as I am 28 years. I cant able to decide and I am getting calls on ASP.NET not JAVA. But I dont want as they are all low paid jobs compared to JAVA. I think in long run it may effect my salary if I join in Java. Please suggest me and to get in to trak my career

Aruna, your question is exactly the same as mine. Find a post from me in this same forum and that might show some light. I am in the exact same position: working with .Net wanting to work with Java in which I have some previuos experience. I came to the conclusion that it will be benefitial to get certified in both techonologies. But that is going to take time so you have to take it easy. There's no quick magic solution. Just doing the SCJP won't get you a job in Java. But it's a start. So I reckon take some of the .Net offers now and start getting certifications in Java. Also get some in Microsoft as that might help getting a better rate. The thing is you can't do this in a hurry. It's a plan for the next year or so. If you are like me you still need a job NOW so go ahead and get one of those offers in .Net while you get certified.

I think I am telling all this to myself!! Well there you go, that's what I am going to do anyway. If you like it, welcome to join me in this journey ...
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
