beta, tiger, 1.5???

dear all,

i am planning to give scjp. i came to know that currently scjp 1.4 exam is available.
but, i started hearing fom people that there is beta exam also, some people are talking about 'wait for tiger exam'...and i am confused now
1) what is this beta exam ? can i appear it right now? what are objectives?
what is diff between 1.4 and beta?
2) is tiger same as SCJP 1.5?
3) when it is starting officially?
4) for how many days will scjp1.4 stay in existence and valid?
5) if my aim is to have certification for java, should i wait for 1.5?

Beta exam is an exam that aims at testing the effect of the live exam.

They focus on different areas, the current beta exam is for J2SE 1.5

2) is tiger same as SCJP 1.5?

Yes.

3) when it is starting officially?

For the beta exam, the period is 13 Jan 2005 to 13 Feb 2005. The live exam shall be launced at around 2-3 months after the beta exam concluded.

4) for how many days will scjp1.4 stay in existence and valid?

I guess it will stay long, as you can see, SCJP 1.2 is still in live, after SCJP 1.4 has been launched for 2 years.

5) if my aim is to have certification for java, should i wait for 1.5?

No because there are lack of studying resources. You might feel difficult to prepare for this exam. And I guess Kathy and Bert's updated book will not been released so soon.
