Attend as many Mocks as you can. If you get consistently above 85% then it's good to go for SCJP.

K&B is enough for scjp preparation. But More MockExam practices are necessary.

How dare you not touch the bible! (with a heavy background score of at least 1000 cellos)

just kidding.. but it would have given you a good start. I bought both the books but i started with Mr. Khalid's book which was really a pleasure to read.. its wide extensive.. but Ms. Bate's book was to the point with the only goal of preparing for the exam.. but to get more concepts around Java both the books are not enough. To pass the exam these two are enough.. of course not to mention the importance of taking as many mock tests as possible. i have another 2 weeks to go and i've been on these 2 books for the past 4 weeks skimming through each word (2 hrs / day but I work 12 hrs . All the best.

Thanks a lot for the responses.
I will be using Khalid s book for Threads(Got to know from the forum that Thread questions are difficult) and for some other Topics.

Khalid's book in fact is much more than enough for the exam. It explains some concepts very detail. It is very good for you to understand the core Java issues, and it is NOT only useful for the exam.
