Hi all,
I am planning to write the SCJP 1.4 exam and am not able to decide where to start my preperation from. I am really confused. . I would highly appreciate if any one could let me know how to start the exam preperation. I have some experience in JAVA Programming though . I am really confused. Please help/guide me. I would like to know some sites where we can get exams based on the topics of the K&B book or in general give me some idea about how to prepare.

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post my request or not. If this is not the right place, please excuse me.

Thanks a lot for the help in advance.

Thanks & Regards,
Leela Kolluri

Yes you are in the right place.

If you are sure of going after 1.4(instead of 1.5 which is the latest), i would suggest the following.
1. Pickup one of the best of the breed books for SCJP preparation.
Example: one by Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates.
2. After going through one of the books from step 1, practise some mock tests. If you have spare money, you can opt for www.whizlabs.com. It gives exam simulators which are guaranteed if you practise a lot.
3. Go through Java API docs, Java spec etc to have indepth insights into the programming language.

Last but not least, put this as a priority in your daily routine. You will not regret the outcome and will be more confident of your skills after completing the certification.
