Hi Folks,

I'm very new to this discussion forum.
I'm planning to take SCJP exam ,so can anyone guide me how to go about it?
I'm following KHALID N MUGHAL.Is this book sufficient? Apart from reading the book what all is necessary? And what all are the topics on which i should stress upon.

Anyone who has recently appeared for this exam can give better guidance,so please reply soon and thanks in advance

Regards,
Dipti

There's alot of details to memorize. It seems you need to
study hard and take the test at precisely the right time. If you wait too long, you will start to forget what you memorized ! I could easily see that alot of details would become fuzzy even after one week after you take the test and stopped studying.

You basically have to be a human Java compiler and JVM for the test. Studying gets you in the right state of mind. Wait too long to take the test and you can lose the edge.

Dipti, let me share my opinions. Khalid Mughal's should be the first book to begin with. Khalid Mughal's is absolutely necessary, but by no means sufficient. I read it thrice, word by word. Then followed it up by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates's thrice. Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates's book is like a ready reckoner. Finally I took 5 complete mock exams. Hope this helps!

Dont' worry about the time frame. It always depends on a a lot of parameters. It works differently for different people. First try it and then create a plan that works for you best.
Also don't look for answers for all your questions at once. You will find out on your own over a period of time. Be patient and keep moving.
Good Luck.
