I know this sounds like a dumb question and you can smack me for asking it. Is the passing score for the mock exams from MasterExam more strict? I calculated my score and ended up with 79.6% and it is considred just passing.

I was actually about to ask this too. The MasterExam that comes with the book seemed to indicate that about 60% was passing, but the bonus MasterExam was closer to 80%. Is this realistic? Why is the bonus MasterExam so much more strict?

Hopefully it is to prepare for the exam better.

If you're talking about the K&B 1.4 book, it's just an error in the test engine that we were never able to get the testengine creator to fix

If you're talking about a different test...well...never mind

I was talking about the bonus exam for the 1.5 test in my post. The MasterExam cites that 80% is necessary for passing, but most people seem to believe the passing score for the real SCJP exam is more like 60%, like the MasterExam that comes with the book.

Since the difficulty was about the same between both MasterExams I was just trying to figure out why one was so much more strict than the other about whether you passed or failed. But it could just be a programming error. Someone else in the forum mentioned earlier that they passed with a 73%, for example, and this would have been a failing score in the bonus MasterExam.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
