Yes, you can compare them. In this case, the wrapper will be autounboxed.

Well I taught programming courses for about 5 years and spent a great deal of time creating examples and learning subtleties. There really is no substitute for writing as many code examples as you can.

No. Boxing was introduced in 1.5. Prior to this, comparing a primitive value with an object reference would always return false.
