Please suggest me Books that I should refer for taking up SCJP1.5 Exam.Also sites for downloading mock test and simulators would be useful.

I am new to this forum so I have no idea whether this Topic has already been posted

Hello Mitica....

Its really sad that you can't download J2SE SDK....
If you cant install even, then how will you crack SCJP....
and it doesnt mean that Java is [edited]....

Be strong and make up your mind fisrt then go for Java....
Java is not so easy....and... not so tough too...

I sympathize with you. Getting Java downloaded from Sun and configured on your machine is, imho, an intermediate level task that Sun asks a lot of beginners to do :roll:

I would recommend that, after taking a few deep breaths, you repost your specific problems on the beginner's forum. A LOT of people have had similar problems getting started and you'll find good answers there. You will have to take the time to be specific about exactly where you're getting hung up though. I think the other advice you got is good - Java isn't easy, but it's also quite possible to become a Java programmer. It will take some work.

Finally, the SCJP exam is REALLY hard. I would spend some time learning the basics of Java before starting to study for the SCJP.

everything is good ! first y download J2SE. but.... is only one problem --- is missing download the JAVA . EXE file . i try two times- same result ! that is ...

i am a webdesigner and i use the php , sql , css and macromedia dreamweaver program. now i try understand the java tehnologies for me only and maybe in the future i use that . here is not esential the paper(certification).if you now you are accepted , if you not now and have all kind of certification , more university paper you never found one it job . y learn for me and y buy a lot of java books. more is signed Bert Bates , Kathy Sierra .

I find it hard to believe that someone who knows SQL, PHP, and uses Dreamweaver can't install Java. Heck, some Java support (servlets) is built into Dreamweaver, not to mention JSP, ASP, Coldfusion, etc.

In any case, there is no "why". If you see that Java is of no help to your career, or even if you have no desire to learn it, there is no reason to learn it. There is already too much to learn out there, learn something that you will enjoy, something that you have a passion using, and let the other stuff fall into place.

IMHO, I would suggest learning one of the many many options available from Dreamweaver. Other options including learning one of Dreamweaver's sister programs, like fireworks or flash.
