I have a basic question.

    
public class Exam1{//1
public static void main(String[] args){
 long x=343;//3
 double y=343.4;//4
 boolean b=(x==y);//5  
 System.out.println(b);//6
  System.out.println("x--->"+x);
   System.out.println("y--->"+y);
}//7
}//8  

widening conversion happened to the long at lin5 .so long is changed to double before == test.But when i printed out the x value that is giving only long value.(not giving double value)Why?

When long is changed to double before == test, it does not change the x type, nor this long is assigned to anything.
