This week's book giveaways are in the Cloud and AI/ML forums. We're giving away four copies each of Cloud Native Patterns and Natural Language Processing and have the authors on-line! See this thread and this one for details.
The Catch-22 is I have my CS degress and 8 years of mainframe experience but only about 1 year of "Non-Commerical" Java experience. Most headhunters and employers only want Java developers with 2+ Years of "Commerical" experience. The good news is I have convinced the company that I work for to let me develop a Claim status interface via the web using JSP, Servlets, EJB, JavaMail API, JDBC, ect. However I have to do it on my own time, which bites. But they will allow me to use it on my resume as "Commerical". I had an interview setup with a DOT.com company in the Bay Area but the the day of the interview they laid off half of their IT staff and imposed a hiring freeze. Talk about bad luck!! Thanks for listening any advice anyone can give to help me in the jobsearch would be much appreciated. Thanks, Travis M. Gibson SCJP
I second your opinion Boy it sure is a tough world even amongst SCJP's ! and that in the new year a lot of people are being laid . I wonder what will happen to the new h1 guys is it a recesion ? any predictions can we code a prediction prog in java ??
