String problem..

whenever i try to declare a string using relation

String s="thisnevergetscompiled";

i get a message:
1.class (whatever is the class name goes here) .\is bad class
2.cannot find java.lang.string

can anyone tell what sort of problem it is???
is it a complier problem???

Are you sure you typed String and not string? Java is case-sensitive, so "string" is not the same as "String".

If it really cannot find java.lang.String: It sounds like your Java installation might be messed up. Do you have multiple versions of the JDK installed and did they somehow get mixed up? Try uninstalling and re-installing Java and the JDK on your computer.

Hi Deepesh:

I'm agree with Jesper, in addition, is this the first problem you have of this kind ("Can not find java.lang. ...), are you sure your path variable is well-configured? check it

from the error message you have posted, it could be like you have used "s"(small s) in String. check it.
